This presentation was created by Ed Murray and presented in conjunction with the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CSEIA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). It reports on the outlook for the domestic US solar thermal market in 2010. This would be a good document for anyone interested in comparing expected growth versus actualized growth in the solar thermal industry.
For the US, 2009 showed an increase of imported products for water heating, however sales in the pool heating market still greatly lagged behind numbers predating the start of the 2008 financial crisis. A bright spot was increased consumer interest in solar thermal for space heating and air conditioning. The best states for growth moving forward would appear to be those that continued to implement and provide incentives targeted at the solar water heating industry, including Arizona and Florida.
