U.S. Solar Market Trends 2009 (2010)
Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on March 29, 2015This report was written by Larry Sherwood for the Interstate Renewable Energy Council. It provides information on new solar installations in the US in 2009.
The report examines and analyses the market for various solar energy technologies by state. It focuses on PV, solar thermal heating, and concentrated solar power.
The report concludes that, despite the economic downturn and recent stagnation of the American economy, that the solar market saw continued improvement in 2009 and will continue to grow because of three key factors: financial incentives from governments at the local, state, and federal level, fears over drastic increases in future conventional energy prices, and consumer demand for environmentally friendly products.
