U.S. Solar Market & Federal Policy Update (2011)

This presentation was created by Justin Baca and Scott Hennessey of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). It provides an overview of the current state of the US solar market, with a focus on solar thermal on pages 13-17; and an overview of US Federal Policy towards solar thermal.

The presentation notes that solar thermal water heating is up overall since 2005, but has not returned to its peak levels reached in the 1980s. Pool heating is down since 2008 as a result of the slump in the housing market. Federal policy towards solar has focused on potentially expanding a manufacturing tax credit recently, as this would boost domestic production of solar thermal.
