Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers (SERC) – Solar Hot Water Heaters (2011)

This presentation was created by Eliza Hotchkiss of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. It is targeted at consumers to educate them on how solar thermal water heating systems work and what their benefits are.

The presentation explains the key components of the solar thermal system including the different kinds of collectors, storage tanks, and piping.

Consumers are offered a checklist by the presentation of considerations they should take into account when making a solar thermal purchase, including site inspections, warranties, and price inquiries. Consumers should also use the field checklist to make sure their installation process was successful.
