Solar Thermal: Water Heating and Beyond (2010)
Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on April 9, 2015This presentation was created by Jane Davidson of the University of Minnesota and Tim Merrigan & Jay Burch of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. It looks at the potential for growth in use of solar thermal in underutilized applications on the US, as compared to other countries.
The US lags behind many other countries in the use of solar thermal, including China, Israel, and most of Europe.
The presentation claims that further R&D advances in the material sector are necessary to make solar thermal more cost competitive thought out the country. In the long term, they see these advances as making solar thermal space heating much more feasible which will boost the solar thermal industry as a whole.
