Procedures for Environmental Performance Assessment of Solar Thermal Systems (2007)
Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on January 3, 2013This document provides an overview of an environmental fact sheet produced by EU-funded project NEGST (New Generation of Solar Thermal Systems Project) which allows comparing the environmental performance of different solar thermal systems and other heating systems.
The Environmental Fact Sheet includes the following categories:
- Rules for performing a life cycle inventory
- Declarations of the solar thermal systems product
- Annual collector energy output
- Energy yield ratio
- Avoided global warming impact
The document explains the different steps undertaken to arrive at this final set of procedures which will allow a better understanding of the solar thermal products through their entire lifecycle. The project recommends these procedures to be used to as basis for environmental product declarations and for future labeling of solar thermal systems.
