This is a presentation delivered by Programa Solar during a regional workshop on the use of solar thermal technologies in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) in the framework of its cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The initiative seeks to promote the integration of solar thermal technologies into the housing sector in this region. Programa Solar is a project supported by the Chilean national institutions and is based on four main pillars: standards, regulations, ordinances and system certification (I), market awareness (II), skill-enabling programmes for engineers and technicians (III) and funding lines (IV).
After reviewing the main achievements of the programme, the presentation sheds light upon the operational plan for 2011 concerning the Chilean market, as well as the targeted results in terms of technological and institutional developments.
