Morocco Country Paper in the Field of Certification and Standardization of SWHs (2009)

Two representatives of the CDER (Moroccan Centre for the Development of Renewable Energies) gave a presentation during the Regional Workshop on SWH Certification and Standardization organised by RCREEE (Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency). The presentation provided an overview of the certification and standardisation processes and authorities in Morocco. The local governments are trying to increase the use of the renewable energy sources. It is expected that 42% of electricity will be generated from renewable energy sources, from which 14% solar, by 2020 This document includes a listing of all standards related to solar water heaters and other solar technologies. The presentation pinpoints the need for more training and the efforts of the CDER in organizing training courses for installers. Further certification and training are seen as essential to increase consumer confidence in the use of solar thermal technologies.
