This report is a deliverable of the âGlobal Solar Water Heating Transformation and Strengthening Initativeâ, jointly funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Copper Association. In India, the commitment for SWH deployment has been supported by the governmentâs Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The report - undertaken by Greentech Knowledge Solutions - gives a market assessment of five potential states for the Programme: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andrha Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR). This involves an outline of the political and institutional framework and an identification of the gaps and barriers for further SWH market penetration.
For each composite city, SWH demand projections for the period 2010-2022 are provided, under Business as Usual, Optimistic-1 and Optimistic-2 scenarios. The report also gives specific 3 year action plans (2011-2013) for the five regions in order to ensure that the uptake of SWH continues to develop. These inform the wider action plan for the entire region that closes the document. This recommends targeted areas for national and regional authorities to tackle in the next three years.
