Implementation of New and Emerging Technologies in Israel (2009)

The document explores the energy resources of Israel and the government plans to increase the use of renewables in the country. Israel has experienced a considerable growth of the per-capita energy usage. It increased by 44% since 1990. The EU average per-capita energy usage increased by 15% during the same period.

The document reviews some projects in particular the major large scale solar thermal plant, near Ashalim in the western Negev desert. The Ashalim solar power project will comprise construction and operation of two thermo-solar power stations with a production capacity of 80-125 megawatts each.
