Heat Your Water with the Sun (2003)
Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on March 14, 2015This report was arranged by the U.S. Department of Energy. This document discusses ways that the sun can help heat your home without exceeding your budget. Step by step guidelines for buying, installing, and maintaining your solar heating system are outlined.
The use of solar energy can actually help to cut down on your monthly heating bills while also protecting the environment since it uses renewable energy from the sun. Installing a solar heating system can be a substantial investment. Special financing options and other generous incentives are offered in order to encourage homeowners to switch to solar heating.
The next step is choosing a contractor to install the system. You can either check the Yellow Pages under “solar energy equipment and systems-dealers,” conduct a search online, or contact your utility company to get a list of vendors.
Before you put your solar heating to work it is important to be prepared. Depending on where you live or the warranty you were given under your contract, you might have to consider such things as permits, inspections, insurance, or a maintenance agreement.
