This report was commissioned by India’s Ministry for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to estimate the realisable market potential for Solar Water Heating (SWH) systems in India’s different industrial sectors, and to prepare action plans for future development. The MNRE concluded that the industrial penetration of SWH would need scalability, innovative marketing, financing and service delivery mechanisms.
The report begins with a market assessment of SWH potential in 9 industrial sectors, including: food processing, textile processing, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, chemical, auto components, sugar and rural industries. For each, an estimation of sector size is followed by a calculation of the prospects for SWH penetration, and any existing barriers that must first be overcome.
The report’s second section gives an action plan for Indian government and industries to overcome identified barriers and accelerate the penetration of SWH in Industrial Sectors.
