The Energy Working Group (EWG) put together this document of thirteen project proposals for funding. Japan, United States and New Zealand are some of the economies that the document focuses on in terms of projects like the “Application of Energy Indicator Analysis in APEC Economies”. Starting on page 13, there is a proposal for Chile.
The Expert Group on Minerals and Energy Exploration and Development (GEMEED) and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are the overseers of this Chilean project called: “Development of solar thermal market in the APEC Economies”. The main objectives of this project are to identify barriers to the solar thermal market development, evaluate the potential replacement of conventional energy solutions by solar thermal technologies and the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Other economies proposed for this project are Korea, Japan, the USA and Mexico. The project was to be carried out in the form of case studies in 3 to 4 of the APEC economies. The project is intended to identify barriers in the market development for solar thermal collectors and the wider penetration of these technologies in both the industrial and mining sectors.
