Conserving Energy and Heating Your Swimming Pool with Solar Energy (2000)
Submitted by Hans Craen on June 26, 2009This document was prepared by the Department of Energy in 2000. It covers several options for reducing costs for operating and heating your pool. Included in these options are solar pool heaters. With this system, the poolâs water is pumped through the filter and then through a solar energy collector instead of directly back to the pool (p.4). The difference between the solar pool heater and domestic solar water heating system is the amount of water that is heated. In the domestic solar water heater, a small amount of water is raised to a high temperature, while pool heaters raise the temperature of several thousand gallons of water by circulating the water relatively fast through the collectors.
