Concentrating Solar Power in India (2010)

This is a presentation made by Shirish Garud from the TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) during the 3rd India – Japan Energy Forum that took place in Delhi in February 2010.

The presentation goes through the use of concentrating solar power in India, existing projects (Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission), results and potential. The development of solar energy in India started in the 70s when the National Physical Laboratory started developing solar cookers and flat plate collectors. Nowadays the suggested way forward is to focus on R&D, encourage the development of centers of excellence and of projects involving the industry. Training and capacity building are also important areas to focus on.
