Central Solar Heating Plant with a Seasonal Storage in Heumatt, Switzerland (2003)

This report made by Dr. Daniel Pahud presents results of research undertaken to analyse the heat demand of three specific buildings in the Heumatt area in Zurich, involved in a central solar heating plant with seasonal storage (CSHPSS) project.

The results presented in this study will provide information and data to produce a dynamic model for the whole system which will simulate the thermal performance to optimally size its main components.

The annual heat demand of the three buildings participating in the project amounts to 986 MWh/year (67% space heating and 33% domestic hot water), but differences in the construction of the building and materials used have resulted in different thermal performance levels.
