Case Study: Confederation Place Hotel (2012)

This case study comes from the solar energy company Enerworks. It reports on their solar thermal water heating installation at a hotel in Canada, and the benefits it is paying back to the hotel.

The installation has a number of innovative features that allow provide maximum utility for the hotel. The expandable design allows for future growth of the system, while the retrofit aspect of the system allows it to hook up to existing electric powered water heating ensuring all hot water needs are always met.

Also, the freeze protection in the system is essential for an installation on the water in Canada. In 4 years the system’s cost will have paid itself back, while also displacing CO2 from the natural gas system that had been in place.
