This comprehensive report from 2010 reviews and assesses the building sector policies and regulations in India in the context of solar water heating (SWH) and needs to be seen in the context of the ambitious goal India set to reach 10 million m2 of installed SWH systems by 2012.
The report is divided into three main chapters. The first part looks into national and international best practices on the usage of SWH systems. In particular Barcelona has been selected as one of the key-examples. The second part looks into the best practices and implementation issues identified in 12 Indian municipalities. The third section deals with the development of a uniform policy for SWH in India and, based on case studies and lessons learned from other countries, the drafting of a solar water heating order.
