World Bank Group Role in Supporting Solar Power (2010)

This is a presentation by Dr. Natalia Kulichenko-Lotz about the World Bank Group and the activities and projects it finances to boost the use of renewable energies all over the world.

The presentation explains the main financial instruments that the World Bank has put in place for the energy sector like loans, guarantees, the IFC (International Finance Corporation) debt and equity, the GEF (Global Environmental Facility), the CTF (Clean Technology Fund), carbon finance, the ESMAP (Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme).

The presentation then provides examples of projects using such schemes such as the Egypt Kureimat Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Project, the India Azure Power SPV4MW and the South Asia CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) Programme.
