This is a presentation made during the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Regional Workshop of Solar Thermal Water Heating in Chile in June 2011. This presentation of Eduardo Noboa from OLADE, the Latin American Energy Organisation, passes in review the solar thermal market of different countries in South America: Brazil, Argentina, Barbados, Colombia, Nicaragua and Peru.
The presentation provides information on the five national project countries of the Global Solar Water Heating Market Transformation and Strengthening Initiative. covering the energy situation of the country, solar thermal market and barriers, supporting actors and measures (institutions and legislation) and priority actions till June 2011.
The document also includes information about the Global Solar Water Heating Market Transformation and Strengthening Initiative (GSWH Project) - a project co-executed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNEP), funded by Global Environmental Fund with co-financing of the International Copper Association. The project is currently being developed in different countries around the world to help boosting their national solar thermal market.
