Harnessing the Power of the Sun: Future of Solar Energy (2009)
Owing to the significant potential that the country is offering, New Zealand’s Solar Industry association tries to promote the use of solar technologies in different sectors. The presentation comprises an outline of the available solar technologies – passive, photovoltaic and solar thermal – and gives a more in-depth description of the latter given its multiple advantages and spread within the country.

CERN’s Ultra High Vacuum Flat Plate Solar Collector Markets and Applications (2008)
This is a presentation from the CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) about solar thermal technologies and applications.
The presentation reviews the different market applications (hot water and heating, space heating and cooling, desalination, pool heating, industrial processes and electricity production). It also gives data on the European energy market and the market share of the different solar technologies. The document indicates the market drivers for solar thermal and the forecasts for the coming years.
Solar Water Heaters in Jordan (2009)
This presentation was made during the regional workshop “Solar Thermal Applications in Egypt, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Syria and Jordan: Framework Conditions and Private Sector Needs” organised in March 2009, in Cairo, Egypt.
The presentation reviews in detail the solar water heating market in Jordan, including main barriers, installed collector area, payback periods and potential fields of application, among other aspects.

Status and Potentials of Renewable Energy Technologies in Lebanon and the Region (2007)
This document released by Green Line Association, a Lebanese NGO, provides an overview of the renewable energies penetration in Lebanon and in surrounding countries (Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria).
In Lebanon, collective solar water heating (SWH) systems' installations have verified an annual increase rate of 24% since 2000, whereas in the past individual SWH systems were more common. The figures show that a decrease in the purchasing costs of the systems has been positive to the market.

Renewable Energies Essentials: Solar Heating and Cooling (2009)
This short document, produced by the International Energy Agency, provides a summary of the solar heating and cooling situation in 2009.
The document is divided in different sections: market status; economics; outlook; system related aspects; environmental impact; technology status development; which touch upon different issues ranging from the installed capacity, to solar resources of different countries, drivers and barriers for growth, etc.
Solar Water Heating Legislation in Mexico (2009)
Jaime Brash G., from the Mexican National Commission for Energy Efficiency (CONUEE), made this presentation during a solar heating and cooling workshop which took place in July 2009 in Mexico City.
The presentation explains the national programme PROCASOL (2007-2012) created to boost solar energy in the Mexican residential sector. It refers the main obstacles and drivers of the solar thermal development and the new regulations brought by the programme.
Estimations are that by 2012, 1.800.000 m2 of solar collectors will be in place.
Large-scale Rollout of Concentrating Solar Power in South Africa (2009)
This 2009 paper is a follow-up from the CSP workshop which took place in May 2009. This document looks into the large-scale rollout of concentrating solar power (CSP) based upon the modelling of long-term mitigation scenarios (LTMS) of South Africa.
