This brochure was created by CareyGlass Solar. It explains how solar thermal water and air heating function, and the various technologies that make this possible.
The report details how solar thermal collectors are able to capture the heat of the sun and then pump that energy through a home’s air or water heating systems; there is a diagram to demonstrate this process. From here, the brochure explains how to properly fit and select collectors based on a home’s needs, and whether evacuated or flat plate is the proper collector type.

This document focuses on new solar thermal test capabilities used in the certification of solar thermal collectors. The Florida Energy Systems Consortium (FESC) created this document to help explain how their certification systems works and what the benefit will be to the solar thermal market.
This presentation was created and published by Junkun Ma and Xialu Wei of Southeastern Louisiana University. It provides an overview of how the measure the efficiency of evacuated tubular solar thermal collectors. In particular, the researchers set out how to best determine the efficiency of single ended evacuated tube collectors. Geometric modeling can be used for mounting angles and system analysis can be used for aspect ratios. The system analysis looks at heat transfer, fluid dynamics, volume force; which all are used as inputs in the efficiency function.

This report was from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Annual Meeting in October, 2009. The report is broken down to cover state incentives & policy trends, solar installation trends, net metering & interconnection updates & trends, and workforce development and training. For current policies that are mentioned to withstand solar growth, they mention the Energy Improvement and Reinvestment Act (part of the federal “bailout bill” in 2008) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (part of the “stimulus bill” in 2009).
