Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on June 20, 2015

This report comes from The Cadmus Group, and provides information on the organizations research into and plans for expanding the use of solar thermal water heating throughout the Pacific North-West United States. It is a good example of how businesses are approaching the solar thermal market moving forward, and what successes and obstacles they see in the future.

Solar Water for Car Washes (2003)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on June 20, 2015

This brochure is a case study of the Sonoco Car Wash in Markham, ON Canada, and that company’s experience with solar thermal water heating. Each year, an individual car wash such as this one in Canada releases 30 tons of CO2 emissions due to the use of natural gas in their water heating. With their solar thermal system installed, this will no longer be the case. Furthermore, energy savings from the system will pay for the upfront installation costs in 10 years’ time, without any government assistance. This is a model that could be replicated at car washes nationwide.
