Germany: World Map of Solar Process Heat Collector Industry 2014

World Map Process HeatThere is enormous demand for industrial heat in the temperature range between 100 and 250 °C all around the world, and solar thermal technologies are said to play an important role in covering this demand over the next decades. A joint project by magazine Sun & Wind Energy and German agency solrico was to find out which companies offer solar process heat collectors, what technology they focus on and how many commercial projects they have already realised. The results of the global survey now make up the first World Map of the Solar Process Heat Collector Industry, which was published in the March edition of Sun & Wind Energy and is also available for download on solrico´s website

Technology Review and Selection of CSP and Desalination Configurations (2009)

This Final Report is the deliverable of Work Package (WP1) from the MED-CSD Project. Designed to assess combined solar power and desalination plants’ technico-economic potential in Mediterranean Partner countries, it was a project funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). It ran between June 2008 and June 2010.

Solar Power from Europe’s Sun Belt (2009)

The report gives a good overview of the strategic benefits of focusing on solar thermal and connects it with its socio-economic benefits.

This 2009 report looks into the global outlook of concentrating solar power (CSP). The report first looks into the different CSP technologies and makes a comparison based on the advantages and disadvantages. The report also provides an overview of the CSP development by region. For certain countries per region a more detailed assessment is provided. In particular, the potential of the Mediterranean and the MENA region is being assessed.

Concentrating Solar Power for Seawater Desalination (2008)

The authors of this 2008 paper aim to demonstrate the importance concentrating solar power has for desalination of freshwater. Due to the projected growth in economy and population and the anticipated increase in future water consumption in the MENA region, the paper shows that the CSP technology has the potential to provide a solution for the growing water deficits.

Economic Impact of Solar Thermal Electricity Deployment in Spain (2008)

This study from 2008 assesses the economic impact of solar thermal electricity in Spain. In particular, the economic analysis is done for three solar thermal technologies: parabolic trough, central tower and parabolic dish. The objective of the conducted study is to estimate the socio-economic impacts coming from the construction of solar thermal power plants in Spain.
