Efficiency of Evacuated Tubular Solar Thermal Collector (2011)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on June 21, 2015

This presentation was created and published by Junkun Ma and Xialu Wei of Southeastern Louisiana University. It provides an overview of how the measure the efficiency of evacuated tubular solar thermal collectors. In particular, the researchers set out how to best determine the efficiency of single ended evacuated tube collectors. Geometric modeling can be used for mounting angles and system analysis can be used for aspect ratios. The system analysis looks at heat transfer, fluid dynamics, volume force; which all are used as inputs in the efficiency function.

Harnessing the Power of the Sun: Future of Solar Energy (2009)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on November 14, 2011

Owing to the significant potential that the country is offering, New Zealand’s Solar Industry association tries to promote the use of solar technologies in different sectors. The presentation comprises an outline of the available solar technologies – passive, photovoltaic and solar thermal – and gives a more in-depth description of the latter given its multiple advantages and spread within the country.
