Solar thermal polygeneration system for cooling, fresh water and domestic hot water supply: Experimental analysis (2014)

In this paper, presented at the World Renewable Energy Congress of London of 3-8 August 2014, a solar-thermal poly-generation system for chilled water for air conditioning using absorption chiller, pure water with membrane distiller and domestic hot water by heat recovery is presented.

This master thesis, written by Gowtham Mohan at the Stockholm KTH School of Industrial Engineering and Management, introduces a solar thermal poly-generation (STP) system for production of chilled water for air conditioning using absorption chiller, pure water with membrane distillation and domestic hot water by heat recovery.

This presentation was presented at the 2014 UC Solar Research Symposium held in San Francisco at the University of California on 17 October 2014. The author of this Solar Heat for Industrial Processes Project is Professor Roland Winston, Director of the Advanced Solar Technologies Institute at the University of California Merced.

New Technology Produces Economic Solar-Electricity Combined with Seawater Desalination (2003)

This paper from 2003 looks into the possibility to develop a solar thermal plant in the region of Toshka, in the Nile valley. The case study which is described foresees the placing of flat mirror concentrators located between 3 to 5 meter above the ground. This would offer multiple synergy effects such as the possibility to grow plants or to build offices underneath the mirrors, thus enabling social and economic development in the area.

Concentrating Solar Power for Seawater Desalination (2008)

The authors of this 2008 paper aim to demonstrate the importance concentrating solar power has for desalination of freshwater. Due to the projected growth in economy and population and the anticipated increase in future water consumption in the MENA region, the paper shows that the CSP technology has the potential to provide a solution for the growing water deficits.

Combined Solar Power and Desalination Plants: Update on the MED-CSD Project (2009)
