Technology Review and Selection of CSP and Desalination Configurations (2009)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Tue, 12/20/2011 - 14:14.

This Final Report is the deliverable of Work Package (WP1) from the MED-CSD Project. Designed to assess combined solar power and desalination plants’ technico-economic potential in Mediterranean Partner countries, it was a project funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). It ran between June 2008 and June 2010.

Increasing the Thermo-Economic Process Efficiency (2003)

Submitted by Todd Costello on Mon, 10/11/2010 - 19:47.

This report was prepared by the PSA (Plataforma Solar de AlmerĂa) division of CIEMAT. The document gives a brief overview of the research PSA has conducted relating to solar thermal desalination, and also shows new developments in the AQUASOL project.

The AQUASOL project is based on three innovations: the solar field base is static CPC (compound Parabolic Concentrator), the development of double effect absorption heat pumps and the reduction of process discharge to zero, using passive solar drying techniques.
