DESERTEC: Clean Power from Deserts. The Global Challenge of Energy, Water and Climate Security (2008)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Thu, 10/20/2011 - 08:30.

This presentation was done by Dr. Gerhard Knies, DESERTEC Project Promotor for The Club of Rome and co-ordinator of TREC, during the Euromed Solar Workshop on EU-MENA Cooperation on Solar Power, held in Jordan.

Solar Thermal Energy in Delaware (2007)

Submitted by Todd Costello on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 15:16.

This presentation was created by the Delaware Million Solar Roofs Coalition, an association that advocates for the use of solar energy, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The presentation was used to inform people in Delaware on the basics of solar thermal energy.

To begin, the differences between solar thermal technology and solar pv technology are looked at. This includes the physical characteristics, economics of, and worldwide installed capacity. Then the presentation examines the potential for solar thermal energy deployment in the state of Delaware.

Case Study on Measures to Support Solar Water Heating (2007)

Submitted by Todd Costello on Thu, 03/11/2010 - 16:12.

This paper was prepared by the research center, LEPII, and the World Energy Council in 2007.

The report breaks down the total installation capacity, worldwide and identifies the largest installing countries in the world by per capita, cost and total systems.

It includes case studies on individual countries including Austria, China and Mexico. The case studies define the market, barriers, incentive measures and main issues. Te main issues talk about market growth and what’s stunting it or what is needed to grow it further.

Potential of Solar Thermal in Europe (2009)

Submitted by Hans Craen on Fri, 10/23/2009 - 14:49.

This report from 2009 has been commissioned by the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) and looks into the potential of solar thermal in the European Union. The objective of the study is to provide the European Commission and the Members States with information on how solar thermal energy can contribute to reach the renewable energy target.

On the Rise – Solar Thermal Power and the Fight Against Global Warming (2008)

Submitted by Todd Costello on Tue, 08/25/2009 - 18:43.

This report was put together by Environment America Research and Policy Center in 2008 and is about how the use of solar thermal technologies can help stop the threat of global warming. Electricity generation accounts for more than a third of America’s emissions of global warming pollution. Using concentrating solar power (CSP) can make a large contribution toward reducing global warming pollution in the United States. This document states the capacity in the States to expand its solar thermal market. It gives a short history of solar thermal power and the different technologies.
