Submitted by Raquel Costa on Fri, 07/08/2011 - 08:22.

This is a presentation made during a Regional Workshop (Solar Thermal Applications in Egypt, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Syria and Jordan: Framework Conditions and Private Sector Needs) in Cairo, Egypt in 2009.

Energy Action Sheet: Solar Water Heating (2006)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 13:59.

This action sheet was published by the Pace Project (Pan African Conservation Education Project), funded by the Vodafone Foundation and ran in partnership by Tusk Trust and Siren Conservation Education. The goal is to help spreading simple solutions to environmental problems between communities in Africa.

Renewables for Heating and Cooling (2007)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Tue, 07/13/2010 - 12:33.

This document, prepared by the International Energy Agency, comes as a follow-up of the 2006 seminar “Renewable heating and cooling – from RD&D to deployment technology and policy” aimed at exploring guidelines and policy initiatives to boost technology development and market deployment for renewable heating and cooling (REHC).

The Thai Solar Thermal Industry Outlook (2007)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Sat, 06/26/2010 - 10:00.

This document was produced by the Solar Thermal Association in Thailand. It provides a thorough overview of the Soltherm project. The Market Development Solar Thermal Applications in Thailand project (Soltherm Thailand) is funded by the EU-Thailand Economic Cooperation Small Project Facility (EU-SPF) and jointly implemented by the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE).

Manual for Solar Collector Installers (2004)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 10:30.

This manual was prepared by Água Quente Solar, a Portuguese public programme promoting the use of solar panels for water heating.
The guide provides information and guidance on how to install a solar collector, things to take into account in terms of technology, weather, shadows, best location. Recommendations, best practices, monitoring, among other important details to respect for a proper and qualified installation of solar collectors.

Solar Industrial Process Heat - State of the Art (2006)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Mon, 05/17/2010 - 09:08.

This is a report prepared in the framework of the Intelligent Energy Europe project Key Issues for Renewable Heat in Europe (K4RES-H).

The report focuses on solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP), the current market status and potential, the identified barriers to growth and proposed recommendations. A selection of demonstration projects is also provided.

Solar heat for industrial processes is not yet a very developed technology, but among the various solar thermal applications, its potential is noteworthy.

A Desk Top Study to Investigate the Global Best Practice for Solar Water Heating Manufacturers (2006)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 11:10.

This study was commissioned by Central Energy Fund (CEF) to Palmer Development Consulting (PDC) and Synopsis to report to the South African public and private sector of the best practices for SWH technologies, warranty periods, pricing, and standards.

The methodology of the report consisted on a questionnaire sent to worldwide manufacturers inquiring about exports of SWH systems into South Africa. Results showed a similarity in the systems and technologies, when compared to national manufacturers, but a big difference in terms of prices was registered.

Solar Thermal Ordinances: State of Art in Europe (2008)

Submitted by Raquel Costa on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 12:00.

This report, from 2008, produced by Intelligent Energy Europe, and integrated in the ProSTO project (Best Practice Implementation of Solar Thermal Obligations) makes an assessment of existing solar thermal ordinances (STO), using a total of 11 case studies in different countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland and Portugal.

Promoting Renewable Energy Technologies for Rural Development in Africa: Zambia Experience (2008)

Submitted by Stuart Jackson on Wed, 04/30/2008 - 16:51.

This paper, prepared by Universities in Zambia and in Belgium, examines
Zambia’s efforts to exploit renewable energy technology.
The document shows that in rural areas solar home systems are being used, but just for an elite group of rural population
The challenges of renewable energy use in Zambia include
inadequate policy provision and implementation, lack of awareness among rural households about the benefits of
renewable energy, the high cost of technology and the undeveloped nature of renewable energy markets.
