This presentation was created by the Indian National Academy of Engineering. It provides information on the engineering issues associated with deploying solar thermal technology for widespread use in India.

This presentation, prepared by Anwar Ali of the LCECP (Lebanese Centre for Energy Conservation, was presented during the workshop in Syria: “Political & Economic Framework Conditions for EE & RE in Buildings”.

The National Solar Mission is a major initiative of the Government of India and State Governments being launched under the brand name “Solar India”. The Mission strategy has a two-fold objective: to scale-up deployment of solar energy, taking into account the financial constraints and affordability challenge in a country where large numbers of people still have no access to basic power and are poor and unable to pay for high cost solutions.

This technology roadmap from 2008 has been commissioned to identify goals and milestones for the research, development and demonstration of high temperature solar thermal (HTST) technology in Australia.

This report from 2006 gives a detailed assessment on the approach of GEF towards concentrating solar power development. In particular it looks into the GEF's Operational Programme 7 (OP 7) which deals with the development of technologies with low greenhouse gas emissions that are not yet commercial, but which show promise of becoming so in the future.
