Energy Saving Trust Boiler Scrappage Scheme
The new launched Boiler Scrappage Scheme should motivate home owners and tenants in England to replace their old boiler with a new A-rated boiler which can be combined with a solar thermal system. The applicant is allowed to apply for both the Low Carbon Buildings Programme for solar and the Boiler scrappage scheme.

Up to first 125,000 householders. It is possible to apply for both the Low Carbon Buildings Programme for solar and the Boiler scrappage scheme.
Householders (including tenants) under 60 can only apply for the scheme if the boiler they are scrapping is in working order, but those aged 60 or over can apply for the scheme regardless of whether the boiler they are scrapping is in working order. However, in both cases this still needs to be the main boiler used to heat the home. |

Existing system: boiler must be G-rated or equivalent or worse
Replacement system: boiler must be high efficiency A-rated or a renewable heating technology, including solar thermal when combined with an eligible boiler replacement. |
| Requirements for the installation |
Installation of a gas or oil boiler must be carried out by an installer registered with a competent person's scheme (such as GasSafe or OFTEC). Installation of a microgeneration technology must be carried out by a person qualified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. |
