    The 6th Mikkeli International Industrial Coating Seminar will take place from 14 to 17 March 2012 in Mikkeli, Finland. The programme will address the influence of nanotechnology and nanostructured materials on the properties of surface coatings and will include sessions on:

  • Finland: In-line Coating Machine for complete Direct-Flow Absorbers-

    Coating line” A full aluminium direct-flow absorber with a newly developed coating from Finland won one of the three Solar Thermal Intersolar Awards at the Intersolar 2011 in Munich, Germany. The photo shows the respective in-line coating machine by Finnish company Savo-Solar Oy. In cooperation with the Danish company Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing, both companies were able to impress the jury with the new developed “Savo-Solar Al-MPE” absorber. The other two prizes went to Vetter Gesellschaft für Medizinische Datentechnik, Bio- und Umwelttechnik mbH, Germany, for developing a parabolic trough collector which opens up a diverse range of installation possibilities, and to Swedish company Absolicon Solar Concentrator for a PVT collector combining solar power generation with the use of solar heat.

  • Finland / Germany: T-Drill presented at Intersolar Europe-

    Timo Lehtonen, Sales Director at T-Drill” Munich's Intersolar in June was the first-ever German event at which Finnish company T-Drill O presented its machinery. With a focus on pipe processing for solar thermal absorbers, the company offers T-Drill machines, as well as pipe cutting, pipe end closing and end forming machines.   • European Solar Days: Around 6,600 Events in 17 European Countries-

    European Solar Days 2010” Everything revolves around the sun: 17 European countries participate in the 3rd edition of the European Solar Days from 1 to 16 May 2010. Around 6,600 events are planned for this year’s campaign, involving several hundred thousand citizens at a local level.

  • Renewable Energies Sources in Finland – OPET Report (2002)-

    In 2000, 25% of Finland’s energy consumption resulted from renewable energy sources, which makes Finland share of RES in the total energy consumption the third highest in the EU. Nonetheless, the government launched a National Climate Strategy and Action Plan for Renewable Energy in 2001 with a view to meet the Kyoto commitments for Finland. The long-term objective is to increase the competitiveness of renewable energies and to ease the development of an open energy market without continuous support measures.

  • Solar Heating Systems for Houses (2003)-

    This book from 2003 presents the collaborative work of international experts from research, industry and academia in the IEA solar heating and cooling programme's Task 26, Solar Combisystems

    The book details methods for analysing and optimising combisystems for different house types and introduces standardised classification and evaluation processes and design tools for these systems. Furthermore the book addresses the need for guidelines in selecting and designing the appropriate system according to the specific needs of the building and the local environment.

  • Cupori Group brings out cleaner copper tubes- The Finnish company Cupori Group Oy, which in the spring took over the copper business of Outokumpu Copper Tube, now supplies a copper tube with a particularly clean surface. At the Intersolar 2008 in Munich in June the company presented its new “Tub-e” copper tubes, although still under the old name. They are claimed to have a particularly clean surface thanks to a thermal cleaning process. According to Cupori, welding times during absorber manufacture are shorter with the new tubes.
