Technical Assistance Report – People’s Republic of China: Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Development (2009)

Submitted by Hans Craen on December 30, 2009

This 2009 Technical Assistance (TA) report from the Asian Development Bank outlines the support the Asian Development Bank can give to China for, among other issues, the development of a road map for concentrating solar power demonstration and deployment in the Gansu Province. In addition, it also has as objective to disseminate the knowledge to other provinces in China.

This project is to be seen in the need for diversification of China’s energy mix which should include a bigger emphasis on solar. To underline this, the paper states that the power capacity coming from large grid-connected solar power systems is limited. This results in the above-mentioned project, which will be partially financed by the Asian Development Bank.
