It conclude that although most of Arab countries are located in the solar belt, the penetration rate of solar water heaters in the region still remains low.

The assessment report highlights different opportunities and the current status of solar water heaters in the eight countries mentioned above for which the SWH TechScope Market Readiness Methodology/ Assessment has been conducted. The report mentions that among the barriers of SWH in the Arab region are: the inadequate quality control, traditionaly low energy prices (although this tendency is now changing with some countries introducing subsidy reforms), lack of certified and reliable installers.

The assessment concludes that although most of Arab countries are located in the solar belt, the penetration rate of solar water heaters in the region still remains low and the potential to develop a solar water heating market, very high.
