Solar Trends in Canada: Linking Demand to the Supply Chain (2010)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on May 31, 2015

This document was created and published by David Eisenbud of the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA).  It reports on Canada’s energy situation and how solar thermal fits into the mix. Canada does not have a comprehensive national renewable energy plan, due partially to the fact that Canada is rich in oil and gas resources, according to the presentation. However solar does work in Canada, and is both scalable and growing domestically. Globally, Canada is low on the scale of solar thermal adoption rates, but continued finical incentives from the government have kept growth apace. In 2008, the industry saw approximately 100% growth from the year before. Moving forward, Canada hopes to utilize the solar thermal industry as a sector of job growth.
