SMEThermal 2013 – Innovations in Manufacturing, Product Design and Machinery: Call for Papers

The Call for Papers for the SMEThermal 2013 is now open. Component manufacturers, production equipment suppliers, material suppliers, engineering companies and researchers are welcome to submit their presentation proposals for the international conference taking place in Berlin on 29 January 2013. The SMEThermal has become one of Europe’s leading international industry conferences on the solar thermal sector. The one-day event will attract more than 170 solar thermal industry experts, including delegations from booming solar thermal markets, such as Brazil and China. The conference offers insights into the sector’s most recent developments in process optimisation, cost reduction strategies, new materials or collector and tank design (see also the attached flyer).

Submitted papers should address at least one of the following topics related to the manufacturing of tanks, absorbers and collectors, as well as to technological trends and international market prospects:

  • Innovations in manufacturing, product design and machinery
  • How to increase competitiveness and reduce costs
  • Pros and cons of new materials
  • Technology trends on the world market
  • Future outlook on product design
  • Trends in standards and certifications
  • Market update in- and outside Europe

In addition, each abstract should contain a one-page explanation of the key issues to be covered in the presentation and be accompanied by a short biographical text about the author. The Call for Papers will be available online until 31 August 2012. Abstracts can be uploaded through the Solarpraxis website:

“The SMEThermal 2013 provides a unique platform for the solar thermal industry. There will be some special events again this year,” explains Anja Kleppek, Project Leader of the SMEThermal 2013 at German renewable conference organiser Solarpraxis AG. First, an innovation forum will present the latest developments in process optimisation and new materials. Second, an international panel will share their thoughts about future solar thermal technologies and market predictions. Third: The SMEThermal 2013 will be the first international industry meeting in 2013 to assess next year’s business situation.
