The History of Solarize (2012)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on June 14, 2015

This presentation was created by Resource Consultants for Solar Oregon. It provides information on the Solarize program, which is a community group purchasing for solar thermal systems.

In the Solarize program, a local government or community group sponsors a system which provides solar thermal to a neighborhood or other area, so as to sidestep many of the hurdles to at home installation and systems. Multiple contractors install and operate the systems, 7 of which have been created since 2009 in Portland, through power purchase agreements. To date, the presentation claims that 2.9 MW of solar thermal heating have been installed through the Solarize initiative.
