Guide to Solar Thermal Incentives in Washington DC (2012)

Submitted by Raquel Ponte Costa on June 21, 2015

This report from the District Department of the Environment, Washington DC’s local environmental agency, details how local citizens can use the city’s Renewable Energy Incentive Program (REIP) to receive incentives for using solar thermal systems. Further information on solar thermal incentives worldwide can be found here.

The goals of the DC’s Renewable Energy Incentive Program are to drive innovation and decrease the carbon dioxide emissions from the city. Past experiences with solar thermal systems taught the administrators of REIP that system efficiency and performance are key to a successful program, so they brought in Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) to develop independently verifiable standards. The information in the document would be relevant to anyone studying the administration of solar thermal or renewable energy incentive programs.
