Solar Thermal Applications in Eastern Europe with Guaranteed Solar Results. The East- GSR Project (2008)
This is the final report of the EU funded project East-GSR (2006-2008), created to support the development of the solar thermal market in 5 Eastern European countries (Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia). One of the main objectives of the project was to promote the performance guarantee approach for large solar thermal systems focusing on the example of the Guaranteed Solar Results (GSR) contract. The project was coordinated by the French Energy Agency ADEME.
California Solar Initiative Thermal Program Contractor & Self‐Installer Workshop (2010)
This power point presentation was used at a training workshop organised in the framework of the California Solar Initiative Thermal Programme. The workshop is a required introductory course for contractors, self-installers and applicants interested in participating in this programme.
The workshop did not intend to show how to install, design or sell solar water heating (SWH) systems, but to explain the CSI‐T programme eligibility requirements, the application process; technical requirements; inspection checklist and also provide an overview of SWH systems.
Renewables for Heating and Cooling (2007)
This document, prepared by the International Energy Agency, comes as a follow-up of the 2006 seminar “Renewable heating and cooling – from RD&D to deployment technology and policy” aimed at exploring guidelines and policy initiatives to boost technology development and market deployment for renewable heating and cooling (REHC).
Solar Energy in Barcelona. The Solar Thermal Ordinance (2007)
This report prepared by the Polytechnic University in Catalunya gives the reader a complete overview of the Barcelona solar thermal ordinance, created in 2000, and the role of the Barcelona City Council in this regard.
Solar Energy for Heating Purposes - Soon Profitable in Norway? (2009)
This report provides a brief summary of the technological status of solar thermal technology in Norway.
The report discusses if the use of energy for heating purposes will be possible for Norway in the near future. The utilisation of solar energy to supplement the energy supply has a relatively small distribution in Norway, compared to other Nordic countries such as Denmark and Sweden.
The Missing Piece in Climate Policy: Renewable Heating and Cooling in Germany and in the US (2008)
This document released by the Heinrich Böll Foundation goes through the renewable heating and cooling market status and existing policy support both in the US and in Germany.
Overview of RES-H/RES-C Support Options (2009)
The present report was prepared in the framework of the RES-H Policy project (Policy development for improving RES-H/C penetration in European Member States (RES-H Policy)). The aim is to provide an overview of possible policy instruments to support the development of renewable heating (RES-H) and cooling (RES-C) technologies in the different EU Member States.
The Sun Shines a Bit More in Härnösand (2010)
This is a document released by the Swedish company Absolicon about the solar thermal and PV project being carried out through a public-private partnership in the small town of Härnösand in Sweden.
The hospital in Härnösand is now an example of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources for Sweden and Europe. 50 m2 of suntracking solar panels, generating
power and heat simultaneously, were installed on the roof of the hospital.
The Market Potential of Micro-CHCP (2009)
This is a study assessing the market potential of small scale Combined Heating Cooling and Power (CHCP) in several European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland).
The study is one of the final deliverables of the PolySMART Project (POLYgeneration with advanced small and medium scale thermally driven air-conditioning and refrigeration technology), an integrated project partly funded by the European Commission under 6th Framework Programme.

Use of Solar Collectors for Water Heating in Domestic Sector (2004)
This document was prepared by Água Quente Solar, a Portuguese public programme promoting the use of solar panels for water heating.
This is an introductory document to solar water heating. It explains its applications, the advantages of its use, the purpose, price information, integration in buildings, how to choose a solar collector, where to get advise, certification and warranty.
The document is an example to other national authorities wanting to raise the awareness of the general society to the benefits of using solar water heating in the domestic sector.
